Yes, while the card is spent down. The code sits in encrypted storage from the moment redemption starts and is purged once the card is empty. It never appears in an email.
We revoke the matching credit. If you or anyone you shared the code with spends the card before we finish drawing it down, or it expires on us, that amount comes back off your balance. The window closes 30 days after conversion. Past 30 days the card is entirely our problem.
